Project Child Art
What is this all about? My grandaughter Rebecca has always been fascinated by the embroidery machines when she visits. She loves to have me embroider cute designs on all her clothes while she sits and watches the magic. Sometimes she even gets to push the buttons to start the machine. When she began to show a real interest in drawing I asked her if she would like me to create an embroidery design from her art work to sew on her clothes. She was thrilled with the idea. I told her that I could even sell the designs right here on our web site for others to enjoy. She thought that was very cool. Everytime she comes over now she sits down and draws more pictures for me to digitize. I would love to have time to do them all, but usually I try to select the best of the best for digitizing. As time goes on I'll be adding lots more designs created from her art work and hopefully from many other children as well. I believe that getting children involved in projects like this, regardless of age, is a wonderful thing. Can I have my child's art digitized? Yes! I am offering my digitizing service to other parents and grand parents. If you would like your child's art turned into an embroidery design I will do it absolutly FREE provided the drawing is suitable for digitizing. Your design will be created for either the 4 x 4 or 5 x 7 hoop depending on the size and complexity of the art work. Let me know if you have a preference. How long will it take to get my design? That depends on my work load. Naturally my business has to come first. I'll be working on these designs only when time permits. Generally I should be able to complete your design in about one to two weeks. I will email you the completed design stitch file and ask you to test sew it on your machine. Once you have tested the design let me know how it sewed out and if there are any problems that I need to fix. What do I need to do? All I need is a good clean scan of the original art work. It's best if the child draws the picture on plain white paper if possible. Your scans will be a lot cleaner and it will be easier for me to distinguish color and detail. Make sure they are well focused and of medium resolution. Don't try to send extremely large files by email. It's best to keep your files in the 640 x 480 range for emailing. I'll let you know if I can't work from the scan you provide and offer some suggestions on how to improve the image quality. I'll also need to know the machine format you require. What's in this for you? All that I ask in return are the exclusive resale rights to the embroidery designs I create. The copyright to the original art work would remain with the artist. I would not attempt to sell or distribute the original art work under any circumstances. Full credit will be given to the original artist in each and every case. You let me know how you want the child's name to appear, or I can make it annonymous if you prefer. If you're interested in this program, drop me a line. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. You can contact me here.
