Format Change

We've completely changed our newsletter format. We wanted to find a way to streamline the publishing and delivery process. Not only that, but we wanted to find a way to lessen the risk of being labeled as SPAM by some service providers.

We're sure you would like to receive our newsletter, not have it wind up in a junk mail folder on your host's email server. We think you'll find this new format cleaner and much easier to navigate and read.

As always we're committed to keeping you informed of what's new in the embroidery world as well as what's going on here at R & M Crafts.

DigitizersWorld Launch Successful

October 1st marked the debut of DigitizersWorld.com. In a matter of only weeks there are more than 35,000 embroidery designs on display. A simple catagory or keyword search should net you dozens of designs to choose from. As DigitizersWorld continues to grow, there is no doubt it will be the only site you'll need to find just the right design.

Click to visit DigitizersWorld

One of the really cool features at DigitizersWorld is the "In Search Of" forum. Members can ask for help finding just the right design. Chances are good that one of the pro-digitizers will have what you are looking for. At the very least someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

R & M Crafts is a proud supporter of DigitizersWorld.

MC350E

The 300E is a top notch embroidery machine. We expect the 350E to be even better and it won't break the bank either. Visit the Janome web site for more details.

Tip & Tricks

Our thanks to Dixie T. for submitting this helpful embroidery tip:

I use a pet hair pick up roller to get all the little threads and pieces of fabric especially with applique. They are inexpensive and fit easily in the hoop.

Holiday Snow Globes Are Back

In addition to every thing else we do, we create custom Holiday Snow Globe photographs. We know this has nothing to do with embroidery, but they are so much fun and we love making them. They are perfect for printing on holiday greeting cards to send to family and friends and make a perfect momento that will last for years to come.

Our Holiday Snow Globes were very popular when we first introduced them last year. We decided to bring them back again this year in time for the 2006 Holiday season.

Substituting "Stuff" For Stabilizer

I often read about some of the many creative ways embroiderers find to save money on expensive stabilizer. I've read where some folks use things like interfacing designed for sewing, sewer cloth, dryer sheets and a few other items that don't come to mind right now. It really doesn't matter. I think you get the idea.

Saving money is always a top priority for most of us, but there really are some things that we shouldn't skimp on. Good quality stabilizer is one of them.

I won't go into the technical aspects of how stabilizer is manufactured, but there are a couple different processes used. What is important is to understand how the finised product helps you get the most our of your embroidery projects. It's all about fibers!

The fibers used to manufacture stabilizer don't go in one direction. They are scattered throughout the product in all directions. This is what gives it strength and virtually eliminates stretch. Substitute products do not offer this stability. Their fibers are generally going in one direction only. It may not stretch much one way, but certainly will in another.

I'm certain your goal is to turn out the best quality embroidery possible, so use good quality stablizer for all your projects. Don't skimp on the one thing that really does make a big difference. If it prevents you from ruining even one expensive shirt it has paid for itself.
